Colonnella (303m.) is located in a hilly area, very close to Martinsicuro, the staircase that leads to the historic center is unique, a characteristic element of the town. San Gabriele dell’Addolorata (Francesco Possenti) is one of the most popular saints in the world. His sanctuary, set like a pearl in the beautiful setting of the Gran Sasso Teramo, is visited every year by about two million pilgrims. The ancient church was then enlarged in 1908, in 1920 the dome was embellished and in 1929 it was enriched with the elegant facade.
